1sts oh so close, 2nds go back-to-back

The first XI fell agonisingly short in their pursuit of 282 at Surrey Park, going down to top side Boronia by 13 runs. In his final game for MOCCC before returning to WA, Luke Baker received the Man Of The Match award for his defiant 99. Bakes’ untimely demise mirrored the disappointment of the day for the Eagles, however the team was at least rewarded with a return to Dunstan Shield ranks in 2011/12 after several years in the wilderness.

Meanwhile at Bulleen Park, the second XI completed a premiership double in accounting for Mont Albert by 82 runs. Superbly led by Will Hiser’s four wickets, the Eagles bowlers did themselves justice after a superb season in which the team was defeated only once. James Kazalac also did a sterling job as captain, standing in for the injured Julian Sakowski. Victorious players were seemingly just warming up when last seen heading for the city around 2am…
